The success of a 20-year-old Louis Trichardt-based model, Rotondwa Musitha, is one of the many good things that make Vhembe district and South Africa proud of this country's youths.
Rotondwa is off to London from 10 to 16 November, where she will be competing for the Miss Commonwealth Africa title.
“It is with great pleasure that I announce that I am going to London,” she beamed. “I am so happy and optimistic about this journey and contest – and I will utilise the opportunity given to me to shine like a morning star.”
The British monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, will also attend the ceremony on 15 November.
“As I continue being an ambassador for change and culture, I am grateful for the support I have received from people of all walks of life,” she said. “I am going to use the platform given to me and place the South African flag up high as I walk on the stage.”
Rotondwa was announced the second princess for Miss Commonwealth South Africa on 29 August at Gold Reef City's Lyric Theatre in Johannesburg.
This young woman is also involved in charitable projects in the district, with many other local artists, fashion designers and businesspeople. “I am a young model participating in prestigious national and international pageants,” she said. “Yes, at the end of the day I am Mummy's and Daddy's girl.”
An established cultural practitioner and fashion designer, Phophi 'Popi' Bambelani (28), sent Rotondwa a package of well-wishes for her London trip. “She's a young but stunning inspiration to young people,” she said. “I wish her nothing but to win and continue to make us proud. She has a role to play for young people in and from Limpopo. All the best to Rotondwa.”
