The sensational gospel singer from Maraxwe, Rudzani Nematswerani (27), recently released his debut studio album, Ramakole.
The album is an in-depth expression of what God means to humans and the peace that constitute sGod’s kingdom. “I was born and raised in a God-fearing family. I have been a churchgoer since I was a baby, so gospel music was the only thing that I knew. I have never liked any other music besides Godly music,” he said.
He was inspired by Rofhiwa Manyaga and Benjamin Dube. He grow up listening to them. “I started singing when I was very young. I would sing in church and at school,” he said. He initially started playing keyboard and drums and later then realised his gift for singing.
The album, Ramakole, contains 15 tracks and has thus far received a fair share of airplay on radio stations. Some of the tracks on the album include the title track, ramakole, as well as ahuna munwe, rihangwele (ft thabelo netshiunda), we bless your name, favor (ft sammy rakobela), leave it there, nyimele, yahweh, ha ku khensa, mukhethwa-khethwa, vha murena (ft rofhwa manyaga).
About Ramakole the 27-year-old singer said that his music conveyed different messages of encouragement. “It is through these songs that we have seen more people repenting and coming to God, and I am committed to spreading the word of God through music ministry,” he said.
According to Nematswerani, the album is from him to God-fearing people around the world. "The plan is to use this album to connect people with God. I feel that the music on this album brings out what I wanted it to, and I want my fans to get their hands on it and start connecting.”
He added that his album consisted of different messages. "On the title track, Ramakole, I will be praising God in the midst of problems, acknowledging that He is the only one that we can turn to in times of troubles,” said the talented singer. Asked why he had taken up gospel music, the Tshwane North College student said his Christian background had influenced his decision to choose the genre.
