Afro-pop and R&B artist Unarine Mutheiwana, also known as JR Player and hailing from Tshikhudini village in Thohoyandou, expresses profound gratitude to God on his fourth EP, titled “Xikwembu”. The seven-track album, released on Thursday, 30 November, delves deeper into the spiritual and soulful dimensions of JR Player's craft, following the success of its predecessor, “Mutambi Delele”.

“Xikwembu,” translating into God, represents a concept that JR Player believes should be both the shadow and forefront of this project. Spiritual tracks such as “Xikwembu”, featuring singer-songwriter Una Rine, unveil the genuine meaning behind this project and the essence of its expression. JR Player was inspired to work on this EP by the ups and downs encountered on his journey, acknowledging the grace of God that continues to elevate him. The EP narrates his personal story and serves as a reflection of his journey, expressing gratitude to God.

The tracks not only provide a captivating musical experience but also offer a heartfelt narrative, inviting listeners to connect with the spiritual and transformative aspects of JR Player's musical journey.

The EP offers a diverse range of tracks, from the wisdom-laden “2Bobo”, featuring the Venrap king Mizo Phyll, and “Mpfareni”, featuring Asa Tee, to the outro song “Vho 4”, featuring the rising star Mpho El and “Malamba”.

“This EP provides a wide array of songs, all with the primary goal of achieving the godly feeling that I curated and imprinted onto the soul of this project,” JR Player said.
