Suspect in court after death of girlfriend

A cloud of sadness still lingers in the Lwamondo Khumbe area after a 19-year-old girl, Ndoliladza Likhuda, was allegedly stabbed and killed by her boyfriend two weeks ago.

According to the police it is alleged that her boyfriend, who apparently accused her of cheating on him, had stabbed her repeatedly. The deceased was a Grade 12 pupil at Gwamasenga Secondary School. “It appears that the two had differences that led them to quarrel before the incident,” a family member said.

The spokesperson for the Vuwani police, W/O Elijar Malatjie, said the victim died at the scene of the incident. “According to our preliminary investigation, the suspect dragged Miss Ndoliladza to his home, where he allegedly stabbed her several times all over her body,” said Malatjie.

Several killings of this nature had been reported in the Vuwani area in the past months. Malatjie is now calling upon all people who might be experiencing marital or relationship problems to consult with social workers for counselling, rather than resorting to killing each other.

The suspect, Fhulufhedzani Neadzadza (25) of Ha-Mutsha, appeared in the Vuwani Magistrate's Court and his case was postponed to 4 May for a bail application.
