Jimmy Da Scratcher disputes termination

The axed PhalaPhala FM presenter, Jimmy Da Scratcher, broke his silence this week and said in a media release that he was taking the battle to get back his job to the courts.

The popular DJ, whose real name is Jimmy Netshilulu, said the termination of his service was unlawful and there were ulterior motives. “I am disputing the termination of my employment and, in this regard, a legal process has already been served to the SABC,” he said, and added that he was acting under legal advice.

Jimmy Da Scratcher’s statement also suggests that there are many other presenters or employees at PhalaPhala FM who are trapped in “bondage”.

The SABC’s spokesperson, Mr Kaizer Kganyago, said in a statement last month that Jimmy Da Scratcher was dismissed from his duties at the radio after it was discovered that he had “been defrauding the station”.

Earlier this week, Kganyago said he had been away in Cape Town and he was not aware that legal papers had been served on the SABC.
