Grisly discovery stumps police

On Monday, employees from the Department of Environmental Affairs in Louis Trichardt made a grisly discovery in the town’s Green Belt Area, bordering River Street.

While busy eradicating alien plants, they came across a human skeleton.

The Zoutpansberger / Limpopo Mirror were on the scene and managed to take a few photographs with the permission of the Makhado Police. Next to the skeleton was a size 6/7 tekkie (seemingly the Adidas brand), a woman’s jersey (with colourful stripes), shreds of what seemed to be a black dress or skirt and a blue wind-breaker jacket.

The Makhado Police have opened an inquest docket to determine the identity of the person’s skeletal remains.

The police appealed to people who may have information about the case to come forward. Information can be given to the police by phoning the charge office of the Makhado Police at Tel 015 519 4300.

In the meantime, the newspaper forwarded some of the photographs of the skeleton to a local archaeologist. Make sure to pick up a copy of this week’s Zoutpansberger / Limpopo Mirror to see what the archaeologist had to say about the discovery of the skeleton.
