Another gang-style killing at Tshituni

The ongoing gang war in Vhembe has claimed yet another life in the Nzhelele area. A 37-year-old man, whose identity is yet to be divulged, was gunned down in his car at Tshituni Thembaluvhilo on Monday (4th). The incident took place at approximately 22:00. This is the second such killing to have happened in the Nzhelele area in the space of two months and has instilled fear in residents. This is also the ninth such killing in the Vhembe area in the past three years.

Limpopo police spokesperson Col Malesela Ledwaba confirmed the incident and said that a manhunt and thorough investigation had been instituted. He said that the motive behind the killing was not known. According to Ledwaba, they had been summoned to the scene, following reports of gunfire. "Upon arrival, we found a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds inside his vehicle. Despite the efforts by emergency medical personnel, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene," he said. He further indicated that preliminary information revealed that the 37-year-old victim had been alone inside the vehicle at the local car wash when he had been approached by two unknown armed suspects. They shot him several times at point-blank range before fleeing the scene on foot.

Limpopo police commissioner Lt Gen Thembi Hadebe also expressed her shock and described it as another one of those senseless killings. She assured the public that the SAPS is committed to bringing those responsible to justice. "We are treating all these cases with the utmost seriousness. An extensive investigation has been launched, and we will not rest until we have uncovered the circumstances surrounding these heinous acts and apprehend those responsible," she said.

The police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward and assist the investigators. Information can be provided anonymously and will be treated with the strictest confidence. The investigating officer, Sergeant Virginia Siobo, can be contacted on 060 720 3303, or they can call the Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or use the MySAPS App.
