Pastor Tshigomana continues to bless those in need

The Back to the Creator Worship Centre’s Giving to the Needy Project faced significant challenges this year, for various reasons. Its founder, Pastor Murunwa Tshigomana, first lost her daughter, Phathutshedzo Tshigomana, a promising pharmacist, in an accident on the N1 near Mookgophong on 11 February this year. Then the philanthropic pastor fell very ill and has not seen the inside of her church since July. However, on Saturday, 9 December, she surprised everyone when she arrived at her church, despite her ill health, to distribute Christmas groceries to the less fortunate.

The function took place at the church’s headquarters in Tswinga, outside Thohoyandou, where she distributed 12.5kg bags of mielie meal, tinned foods, sugar, tea, cooking oil, soap, and other basic needs—enough to last a month—to 60 recipients.

The event was attended by many community members, church pastors, and leaders from all over Vhembe. Some previous beneficiaries, who have since progressed in life and contributed to helping others, gave testimony on how the groceries saved their lives in moments of dire need.

Ms Magareth Mashawana was one of them back in 2014. “At that time, things were terrible for me. My father had disowned me and was not taking care of me. After receiving the food parcel, I prayed to God that I would get a job and that my situation would improve. As I speak now, I own an instant-lawn business and give back to the needy. What I can say is that these are no ordinary food parcels. Those who receive them must pray, and change will come into their lives,” she said.

Pastor Tshigomana shared that she had experienced the love of God. “After all that has happened to me, I thought it would not be possible to have this celebration today, considering that I have been ill for some time, and we have also lost the main funder of the project. But these people said it could not stop, no matter the odds. I appreciate all who selflessly helped and contributed, so that those in need can have a better Christmas. Above all, I thank God for making this happen,” she said.
