Phangaman is the new Limpopo champ

Norman “Phangaman” Tshisikhawe became the new welterweight champion of Limpopo when he beat his opponent, Humbulani Netshamutshedzi, by means of a technical knock-out (TKO) in the ninth round of their fight at Meropa Casino last Friday.

Tshisikhawe approached the fight very aggressively, throwing killer punches from all angles. This resulted in Netshamutshedzi’s going down in the first round, but he convinced the referee that he was fit to fight after the referee had counted to eight. The fight came to a halt for about two minutes in the second round to allow Netshamutshedzi to recover after a claim that he had been hit below the belt. Although the fight was scheduled to go to ten full rounds, the referee stopped it in the tenth round to save Netshamutshedzi from serious injuries.

The tournament was staged by Limpopo Boxing Promotions.

The junior flyweight fight between Tswarelo Moshoeneng and Tisetso Modisadise from Gauteng, which was scheduled over four rounds, was won by Modisadise on points.

The light featherweight clash over six rounds between Thizwilondi Nempandoni and Tendani Munyai ended four rounds before the scheduled time. It was stopped by the referee because Nempandoni was bleeding from his nose and mouth.

The World Boxing Association's international vacant bantam weight title was contested by Clautus Mbele and Mxolisi Nombewu. The referee was left with no choice but to stop the fight in the fifth round to save Nombewu’s life. At that stage. Mbele was throwing numerous killer punches into Ndivhuwo’s face.
