LTT Murunwa out of Total Games

Makhitha Iyarunga proceeded to the next stage of the Total Capricorn Cup after beating LTT Murunwa 4-3 at Ravele on Sunday.

The winner was determined by penalty shoot-out, after the two teams played to a goalless draw.

Iyarunga were lucky not to concede an avalanche of goals during the first half. Murunwa displayed entertaining football, with Iyarunga running for cover. Murunwa threatened to score in the 16th minute. Their striker, Mbulaheni Tshiredo, caught the Iyarunga keeper, Hector Malange, off guard but shot wide.

Itani Dzhabuli, the Iyarunga playmaker, did not lose his original fighting spirit, despite the fact that he was warned with a card in the 20th minute. Dzhabuli tackled Munei Mafunisa of Murunwa from behind.

German Tshikovhi, striker of Murunwa, could not live up to the fans’ expectations as the defence was all over him. Realizing that it was difficult for them to find their way through the defence of Iyarunga, the midfielders of Murunwa, Ndivhuwo Sebe and Khakhu Tshilinga, tried their luck by shooting from a distance.

Murunwa introduced Aven Ralubuvhi for Thabo Mongalo in the 70th minute. Ralubuvhi combined well with Khakhu Tshilinga and Ntsako Khosa on the attack.
