Can City Rovers spoil the party for Black Leopards?

After collecting the maximum points in their last two matches, Black Leopards are geared to add more points to their league account when they play against Platinum City Rovers in their Motsepe Foundation Championship League match at the Isaac Steyl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark on Friday afternoon.

Lidoda Duvha are in the right frame of mind, following their two successive victories. The head coach of the team, Mr Peter Mponda, has assured the team’s supporters that they are going to continue from where they left off in their game against Maritzburg United, whom they beat 1-0 at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

City Rovers’ performance has been below par this season. They managed to win only one of the 10 matches they have played to date. Their latest disappointing result was a 1-3 defeat at the hands of JDR Stars on Tuesday afternoon.

Leopards will be without two of their key players, Tebogo Makobela and Rophney Hlungwane. Makobela received a red card in their game against Maritzburg United, while Hlungwane was taken off the pitch on a stretcher with a back injury in the same game. Mponda said that Makobela and Hlungwane’s absence would give the other players a chance to prove themselves and show that they had not been signed by default.

Venda Football Club will host Magesi FC at the Malamulele Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The other weekend fixtures are Maritzburg United vs Orbit College, Baroka FC vs Hungry Lions, Casric Stars vs Upington City, Marumo Gallants vs University of Pretoria, Milford FC vs JDR Stars, and Pretoria Callies vs NB La Masia.
