Sixteen teams to compete in 15th Mamu Easter Challenge

 

Teams representing 16 villages from the Sinthumule and Kutama area will participate in the 15th edition of the Easter Soccer Challenge taking place this weekend. The event, organised by Mamu Community Development, was officially launched on Saturday in Louis Trichardt.

According to Mr Jafter Mamugudubi, the general secretary of Mamu, the tournament once again boasts attractive prize money for the winning teams. The overall winners will go home with R25,000, a trophy, a soccer kit, gold medals, and hampers. The runners-up will receive R12,000, a soccer kit, silver medals, and hampers. The teams losing their semi-final clashes will receive R5,000 each, while those eliminated in the quarter-finals will get R2,500 each. The first-round losers will each receive R500.

The tournament will kick off on Friday (29th) with matches at different venues. The winners of Friday’s matches will proceed to the top 8 of the tournament. The Top-8 matches will be played at the Gogobole Bucs Grounds. The semi-final matches and the final match will be played on Sunday. The final is scheduled to start at 15:30.

The fixtures for Friday are as follows:

Maebani Aces United Grounds

- 09:30 - Manavhela vs Makhitha
- 11:30 - Muduluni vs Zamenkomste
- 13:30 - Madodonga vs Midoroni
- 15:30 - Tshikwarani vs Maebani

Gogobole Bucs Grounds

- 09:30 - Ramahantsha vs Ravele
- 11:30 - Magau vs Madabani
- 13:30 - Madombidzha vs Tshikota
- 15:30 - Gogobole vs Tshiozwi
