Bono's drawings catch the eye

Read: 7447

Even though she has never studied art, 22-year-old Bono Siaga from Luheni Mapuloni's drawings are admired and her customers keep on coming back.

She says that "drawing means expressing the deep feelings that I can’t say in words". She explains that her love and passion for drawing developed when she was still at high school. “I was motivated to continue drawing after meeting the well-known versatile artist, Mr Avhashoni Mainganye. I was exposed to the world of art in different ways, so it inspired me a lot,” she says.

Siaga has had no official tutoring in art, but makes use of aids such as a multitude of YouTube videos to hone her skill. She says to produce the best drawing requires dedication and creativity. She uses colour pencils and acrylic paint to do the drawings.

She aspires to be known across the world and hopes to own her own art gallery one day. “I also want to start art classes for young people who cannot afford to go to art school,” she says.

Her latest drawings include a portrait of the late Nelson Mandela, one of President Cyril Ramaphosa and the late Winnie Madikizela-Mandela.

Those interested in her drawings can visit her Facebook page: Bono Siaga. “They can call me on 0724743774 or email me at [email protected],” she concludes.
