The highly talented gospel musician, songwriter, radio host and professional television actor, Denga “Kingdmusic” Takalani, scooped an Independent National Gospel Music Award (Ingoma) for his music video entitled Upside down.
The event took place on 30 September in Newtown, Johannesburg.
His song was nominated in the Best gospel music video category, and he featured the multi-talented Takie Ndou in this offering.
A resident of Mukula village, this vibrant musician started singing at the age of 12. By the age of 14, he had started writing his own songs and also recorded his first R&B single, Always loving you, with the help of his parents, who paid for the studio time.
"I thank everyone who voted for me, especially my mother, Mrs Sharon Shonisani Bongwe Takalani, for asking her friends and colleagues at Tshilidzini Hospital to vote for me, so that I could win,” he said. “This award is also for my late father, Mr Muthundinne Patrick Takalani, who passed away in 2016. My dad encouraged me to go back into writing music a few weeks before he passed away. So, I thank God that he had that chat with me before God called him back home."
Kingdmusic is an actor on Skeem Saam. He also has a featured role in Generations The Legacy. He released a new single on 4 October, on his birthday. The song is entitled Trust (Farelela) and is available on iTunes and Google play for purchasing. The full album will be available on 2 November this year.
