Jack the Kidnapper is blockbuster action movie

A group of youths at Vleifontein, led by movie maker and director Musiiwa Makumbi, has just made a comeback with an action movie entitled Jack the Kidnapper. Makumbi released a Vhatukanani kickboxer film last year.

The movie highlights the issue of kidnapping and trafficking, where children are kidnapped and trafficked to some faraway African countries where they become sex slaves and are subjected to hard labour.

“Every day South Africa wakes up to a string of shocking news reports that a child (or even five!) is missing,” said the film's director, Musiiwa Makumbi. “It gives us all a heartache when we embark on an endless search for the missing children and even adults. In most cases, we do not recover the missing ones and we then live with question marks in our lives: Where are they? Will we ever find them? Will they come back home again? What has eaten them alive?”

The script was authored by Makumbi, with assistance from Martin Musetha, who also plays the non-nonsense police detective named Captain. He follows up on all cases and incidents of kidnapping and he eventually uncovers a dirty underworld of malice, heartlessness, and deceit.

“The aim of this movie is to send out a message of hope to the families of the victims of kidnapping and possible trafficking that there are police officers who are working tirelessly in ensuring that their missing loved ones are traced and brought back home,” Musetha said.

He added that they wanted the movie to spread throughout the country, so that the people of South Africa could view it and testify to the talent this country possessed. “It's a Tshivenda and Xitsonga movie and a proudly South African product by its content,” he said. 

The actors include Mbulaheni Mushathama, Vincent Ntuli, Lutendo Masindi, Khathu Mashoma, Funzani Makatu, Vhutshilo Mutavhatsindi, Zwivhuya Chuma, Phindulo Kwinda, Ntsakisi Ndekeni, Masindi Munyai, Adam Makatu, Zwivhuya Malisha, Rotondwa Malisha, Masala Maladzhi, and Mukovhe Mufamadi.
