A local author from Makonde, Rudzai Magwabeni, recently published his book, Turn your passion into a business.
The motivation behind writing the book was that he heard many people say that they did not have business ideas. "I started doing research to find out how many successful businesspeople had made it in life, only to find that most of them started as a passion and they had turned their passion into a business," he said.
He said the book showed steps how one could turn what they loved doing most into a business. He said that unemployment was increasing at an alarming rate and many people were sitting at home with their qualifications, not finding jobs. "They sit at home for years because they believe that the only way to make money is by being an employee. We need to see more people getting involved in the business world," he added.
He would like to see many people start their own businesses through the knowledge that they will acquire by reading his book. "I want this book to change as many mindsets as possible, because it covers a lot of financial education as well. People must learn about business. One of the reasons why we are going through recession as a country is because we have more consumers than producers," he said.
"The motivation behind writing a book should not be money, but it should be a way of taking a message to people. I did not write this book for money even though I know that I will make money with the sales. The motivation behind writing this book was to take the message to people. I know that whoever will read this book will never be the same," he said.
