Lutendo “Ben10” Ndou, former Univen FM sports analyst, rose from humble beginnings and continues to shine brightly on the Vhembe FM sports show at midweek.

He was born at Ha-Masia in Tshikwarani and started schooling at Masia Primary School. He passed matric in 2010 and then studied office administration at a private college.

From there he proceeded to study information technology at the Vhembe TVET College.

Having started his radio career at Univen Community Radio as a sports analyst, Ndou went on to become a force to be reckoned with behind the microphone. “I always make sure that I do my homework by researching my topics in order to improve. I find radio work to be very interesting and challenging, especially when it comes to interacting with the listeners,” he said.

According to his listeners, his sharp questioning style, his love of entertaining the listeners and his ever-ready laughter have launched him straight into their hearts. Ndou said that his current show was for all sports-loving people. “Rugby, cricket, athletics, tennis and, of course, soccer are the sporting codes we focus on. We also look at fixtures, results, logs and Africa's top sports stories. We also profile local soccer teams.”

He said that he needed more skills to improve his programme, because it was one of the most-listened-to sports shows in the area. “This is the beginning of great things in my radio career as I know that I’m still going far through passion and hard work.”

He said that he had fallen in love with radio at an early age, when he used to imitate different radio personalities in different kinds of shows. "To be in this industry, you need to be driven by passion. If you can overcome challenges, then you will make it to the top where you will only settle for the best. I always pushed myself to do my best, and I am not afraid to face new challenges in life. I also accept constructive criticism, and this makes me popular with my listeners."
