A night of glitz, glamour and colour awaited everyone when the Queen of Afropop, Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, better known as Makhadzi to her legion of fans, launched her video, Tshikwama, at Nandoni Riverview last Friday.

“It all started as an elegant and classy night with a breath-taking view at Nandoni Riverview on Friday evening,” said Ms Rita Dee, the manager at Rita Dee Entertainment. “Only people who were on the guest list, the media, municipalities' representatives and her number one supporters and family members were invited to officially launch the Tshikwama music video. The video has now reached 80 000 views in less than three days on YouTube.”

Just like with her previous anthems, Tshanda iya, Magodobo and Zwigevhenga, the strength of Makhadzi's Tshikwama does not only lie on the meaningful lyrics, but also in the upbeat tempo, which is created through the harmonious instruments.

She is currently working on her seventh album, due at the end of August this year. Disk 1 is manyalo songs, and number 2 is house and fusions of Afropop.

Fellow artists Mariana,Trojan and Razie Kay performed during the night. The talented personalities Mr Majo Almost Famous and Mbalavhali D were the masters of ceremony for the night.

“The event was to bring back the connection with Makhadzi and her supporters,” said Rita Dee. “It was also for her to interact with her fans and get a question-and-answer session.”

Makhadzi was overwhelmed by the affection people showered on her. She could not believe that it was all for her. “It was a free event, because the aim was to celebrate the Tshikwama music video,” Rita Dee said. “The event was sponsored by Genesis Events, Nandoni Riverview, Alumbi, Khanoni Restaurant and Rita Dee Entertainment.”

Makhadzi will be celebrating her 23rd birthday at Zwigodini Resort (Ha Berea) on 3 August this year.
