BET award winner Sho Madjozi urged lovers of her music to buy tickets in large numbers and to come and enjoy her music during the eighth Phalaphala FM Royal Heritage Festival on at the Nandoni Royal Garden on 14 September.
Another well-known songbird, Makhadzi, said she was gearing up for an energetic performance. “All I can say is that I’m always unique when it comes to performance. I will go all out. Even when it comes to outfits, my performance will be fire,” she said. “I gym every day, even weekends, in the morning and the evening. I have a personal trainer and she makes sure I don’t gain weight.”
She said that the event had grown by leaps and bounds and had firmly placed the province on the entertainment map. She also received a lot of love from locals, though she said many people from outside the province who did not understand Tshivenda liked her music.
Speaking about his performance at the show, rumba artist Zozo said that the show was very special to him. “We are very prepared for this event. I will perform most of my music that has stood the test of time, and I will be dishing out many of my old songs, as well as some of the new favourites.”
The event organiser, Mr Shandukani Nesengani, said really big improvements had been made, compared to the previous shows in terms of security and entry to the venue, among others. "Revellers should rest assured it will be the best show ever and all our artists have promised their all for the event, " he said.
He warned those buying tickets on the black market that they should not waste their time by coming to the venue as they would not be allowed inside. The tickets are R220 per person for both the gospel and heritage festival.
Well-known artists such as Dr Tumi, Rapson Rambuwani, Rebecca Malope, Rofhiwa Manyaga and Worship House are among those to perform there at the gospel festival on Friday, 13 September. On Saturday, 14 September, music lovers will head to Nandoni for a festival to be headlined by, among others, AKA, Sho Madjozi, Zimbabwean star Leonard Zhakata, Makhadzi, Benny Mayengani, DJ Jones, Zozo, Sengere, reggae icon Colbert Mukwevho, 012 finest and many more.

With a successful roots-reggae album titled “Shandukani” to his name, Fhatuwani Richard Mashele is quickly becoming a household name in South African music. Better known as Jah Saint in music circles, Mashele believes that success does not come overnight and that one must work hard to earn it.
Khathutshelo Dzaga from Thohoyandou Block G, known as Khathu within music circles, has captivated her fans with her latest song, “Muvhonetsheli”. The song is a collaboration with Uber Black and features Racha Kill. The song is in Khathu’s familiar style, often described as a mixture of amapiano and Afro-beat.
“Music should help address societal issues that are affecting the community,” says house musician Meshack Nemakhavhani, better known as Mesh De Vocalist. The musician from Tshaulu Buluni has released a new album, titled “Mbilu I Khombo”.
Musician and actor Mpho Majiga is quickly emerging as the next king of disco on the South African music scene. The position became available after the passing of the late, self-styled king of disco, the legendary Dan Tshanda.
