Barcelona Extravaganza festival takes Makhado by storm

Fun lovers will be treated to music and more fun by top artists in the Vhembe District and beyond during the inaugural Barcelona Annual Extravaganza Makhado Take Over show (BAE) that will be held at the Makhado Show Grounds on 28 December.

The event is hosted by Aphionell. According to the festival director, Khutso Selete, the event aims to create fun for the locals and those who would travel from different places for the love of music. “Music is a way of life for us Africans,” he said. “When we host shows like these in December, it's an acknowledgement that we had worked hard throughout the year and now we are celebrating.”

The show has an aspect of social responsibility for the local community. “We also aim to raise funds to buy school shoes and donate these to the less fortunate after the event,” he said. “We have employed at least 70 people.”

The line-up includes, among others, Colbert Mukwevho, Emtee, Shimza, Makhadzi, King Monada, Zodwa waBantu, Yellow, J-Smash, MizoPhyll, Majozi, JazziDisciples, Blackmoon, Bocca, Euphoria, Chirs Bang, Owen, Bianca, Sgivo, Tatto Wayne, Dj Khathu, Jazz Disciples, KJR, and Dr Daz. The MCs for the event are Vhasa Mugaga Madikita and Black P.

Tickets are available at Computicket at R150 (general), R200 (general, at the gate) and R650 (VIP). Cooler box/bag entry is R50 and no bottles are allowed. Gates open at 12:00. For more information, contact Selete 073 837 2838.
