Live recording for disabled gospel singer

The well-known disabled gospel singer, Selinah Muswobi, plans to do a live recording of her new album, "All Things Are Possible", during a concert at the Mpheni Revealing Christ Champion Centre on Saturday.

The concert at Mpheni promises to be a memorable event, with a list of artists performing that includes Minister Pfunzo, Rendani Xibu, Azwi Mphephu, David Singo, Fikile Muchavi, MJ Maluleke, Adivhaho Masasane, and Phumzile Rams.

Selinah Muswobi’s music career started at an early age. “My role models have been both my parents, particularly my mother. They gave up all their fabulous material possessions to build a future for me and my siblings. This is what I would like to impart to my kids,” she said.

She is, however, very worried about the state of the music industry and blames the problems on piracy. “There are no more music shops in town because they could not compete with these ruthless thieves who sell our music for next to nothing. Many in this industry have lost their jobs, and artists are now at the receiving end as their music is found on pavements and sold for as little as R10, with the money going to the pirates,” she said.

Muswobi mentioned that she is working on a project to share her musical knowledge with the younger generation. “I will engage in a talent search and conduct music workshops around Limpopo during the school holidays. My immediate dream is to establish a recording company that will help to unearth, mould, and give opportunities to rural youths to realise their music potential,” she said.

Tickets for Saturday’s event are already available at R80 for kids, R150 for adults, R200 for VIP seats, and R300 for VVIP seats. Bookings can be made at Computicket.
