Young mom brutally killed by boyfriend

The life of a 22-year-old mother was brought to an end after her 25-year-old boyfriend allegedly stabbed her to death with a sharp object on Monday morning.

Provisional reports state that Glenda Radzilani was on her way to work when Tshimangadzo Rasiluma blocked her way. He allegedly slapped her several times before dragging her back into her home. He then allegedly stabbed her many times.

Tshilwavhusiku police’s spokesperson, W/O David Nkanyane, said the suspect allegedly fled the scene, leaving the deceased sprawled in a pool of blood. “Our tracing team found him at the ploughing fields where he apparently wanted to commit suicide,” Nkanyane said.

Friends of the deceased, who declined to be named, said that she had always complained about Rasiluma's being extremely abusive and that she wanted to terminate the relationship. “But he always forced himself into her life, threatening her with possible violence,” said a friend.

Glenda’s sister, Tsumbedzo Raliphada, said that the family members were heartbroken. “Our sister was stabbed many times in the body and eyes until she died like a dog,” she said. “Here in our family we are a loving people by nature, but we'll find it hard to forgive Tshimangadzo. What he did is pure evil and heartlessness,” she said.

The incident took place in Ward 23 of the Makhado Municipality and the local councillor, Mavhimbi Mashamba, strongly condemned the act of killing. He said Glenda’s death was a great loss to the ward as a whole as she was a young woman who still had a bright future ahead of her. “I am deeply shocked and emotionally touched by the horror which happened right among us,” he said. “The suspect in this matter must really face the full wrath of the law. May Glenda’s soul rest in peace.”

Rasiluma appeared in the Tshilwavhusiku Magistrate's Court and his case was postponed to 14 August for further investigation. He remains in custody.

The deceased had a four-year-old son with the suspect. She will be laid to rest on Sunday at Madombidzha village.
