Municipal employee laid to rest

The mayor of Musina, Cllr Mihloti Muhlope, described the late municipal employee, Fatima Lucia Singo, as a fearless freedom fighter and tireless spiritual warrior whose entire life was dedicated to serving the people of Musina.

This was during Singo’s funeral at Musina on Saturday. Singo, of the Community Services Department of Musina Municipality, died a fortnight ago.

“We cannot hide the deep sense of sadness and gaping wounds in our heavy hearts. Only God knows how to heal the unique pain associated with the loss of a loved one. This was a life worth living and a life worth celebrating.”

Muhlope said there were many testimonies of the great life and sterling contributions of Singo towards making this world a better place than she found it. “As an active member of the ANC and a staunch Christian, she was the unifier who always sought to bring people together, not a factionalist. She was a builder and problem solver, not a destroyer.”

On behalf of the family, Faines Lebepe said the family had accepted that their loved one was gone. “We know that she is gone forever. We cannot disagree with God, because He is the one who controls our lives and times. As Christians who believe in God, we cannot ask God why it happened this way. Although it is difficult, ours is to accept and continue to pray, so that God can give us courage to pass through this difficult time.”

Ms Emma Mbedzi, who spoke on behalf of friends, said her heart was filled with grief upon learning about the death of her friend. “We worked in the same office and did everything together at work. She was a hard worker who would sacrifice anything for her job. We will really miss her, but her work will remain for ever for everyone to see.”
