Thulamela show back with a bang

Thulamela Mayor Mushoni Tshifhango has urged residents of Thulamela to take advantage of the annual show and use it as a platform to showcase their skills and businesses for the economic growth of the municipality.

Tshifhango officially opened the first ever Thulamela Annual Show held at Makhuvha Stadium outside Thohoyandou. It had been a long 17 years without a show taking place in the Thohoyandou area.

During the opening, the mayor and his speaker, Cllr Humbulani Mulovhedzi, had a spectacular arrival in an open bakkie led by many bikers. The local Mphaphuli traditional leaders, led by Thovhele Gole Mphaphuli and the Tshivhase traditional authority, were represented as well as the three other local municipalities of Vhembe.

Members of the 15 SAI battalion were there in full force and displayed a mock attack.

Tshifhango urged the residents to use the opportunity and the show as their cash cow for the three days it would be running. “This show gives an opportunity to exhibitors, ranging from companies to government intuitions, to directly market their products to the public. We therefore encourage our people to use this exceptional opportunity to enhance their image and popularize their brands, especially the small, medium and micro enterprises who must grab this opportunity.”

Tshifhango said he was happy that people had turned up in numbers and that it gave them courage to think of budgeting more for an improved show next year.

Mphaphuli's senior traditional leader, Thovhele Gole Mphaphuli, and his entourage of chiefs congratulated the municipality onfor having staged such a show after many years of absence. “We are delighted as leaders that the once popular show here in this area is back after so many years. Our people used to enjoy themselves. One other thing that make us happy is the fact that our people will be able to generate income by selling fast lines during the duration of the show,” he said.
