Government services for Ha-Muthele

Local villagers commended the Musina Municipality for bringing services closer to the people during the Batho Pele celebrations held at the Ha-Mutele soccer grounds outside Masisi last Friday.

The area falls in Ward 12 of Musina Local Municipality.

Led by the mayor of Musina, Cllr Mihloti Muhlope, government and municipal officials provided services to the local communities who usually travel more than 100km to Musina to access those services. Muhlope said it was important to restore the dignity of all South Africans after the attainment of democracy in 1994.

“Everyone has the right to access government services, despite their geographical location. Community members should report if government and municipal officials are not treating them with dignity. That is why we encourage employees to have identification cards, so that community members can identify them.”

Muhlope said the Batho Pele principles had been developed to serve as acceptable policy and legislative framework regarding service delivery in the public service. She said that all government officials and councilors should always adhere to the Batho Pele principles.

Government departments and stakeholders joined the municipality in rendering services at the venue of the event.
