Presenter of Munghana Lonene FM laid to rest

A well-known radio news presenter of Munghana Lonene FM, Mr Bejani David Mashaba, known as Papa Ntsong, was laid to rest at Gumbani in the Malamulele area on Saturday. He died a fortnight ago after a long illness.

The senior news producer of Tikoaxietleli, the current affairs news programme of the station, Ms Edith Tsundzukani Nkuna, said that Mashaba was an independent worker and committed to his work. “He was loved by everyone. He was the one who trained us how to do our work and we got promoted and became his supervisors, but he never became jealous, and still he encouraged us to work very hard.”

She added that he had touched many lives and played a huge role in nation building through the radio news. “He transferred his knowledge and skills to us, because we got employed while we were still very young.”

Mr Maurice Mashaba, younger brother of Mashaba, said that his brother was the pillar of the family and was always available to help. “He did not accept failure and when we came across various challenges, he would give us advice on how to plan the way forward.”

Hosi Magezi Thomas Baloyi of Gumbani Village said that Mashaba had contributed a lot to the village. He was part of the civic association that assisted in the electrification and water supply in the community.
