Tshifhiwa Munyai (43), accused of decapitating his young wife, briefly appeared before the Mutale Magistrate’s Court on Monday (17th).
Munyai was not asked to plead, and his case was postponed until 29 August for him to be sent away for mental observation.
According to provincial police spokesperson Lt-Col Moatshe Ngoepe, Munayi was arrested on Saturday (15th) in connection with the brutal murder of his wife, the 39-year-old Takalani Siala.
“It is alleged that the suspect had a domestic dispute with his wife at their home,” said Ngoepe. Because of their argument, said Ngoepe, the man allegedly started chopping his wife with a sharp instrument, eventually cutting her head from her body.
Police were notified of the incident and swiftly arrested the suspect.
