Missing 5-year-old found dead

 

The police in Maake outside Tzaneen are investigating the death of a reportedly missing child, the 5-year-old Khaya Restoration Rikhotso, from Hoveni village.

“The deceased was allegedly found by a passer-by in the surrounding bushes following a massive search operation by the police, the family and the local community. The circumstances around the victim's death is subject to the ongoing police investigations,” said provincial police spokesperson Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

This discovery of little Rikhotso’s body follows his disappearance on 6 September. “It is alleged that his grandmother saw him playing at the gate inside the yard. Later on, she checked on him and discovered that he was nowhere to be found,” said Ngoepe.

Police have opened an inquest docket for further investigations. “Anyone with information about this matter, may contact Colonel Cecil Machimane at 082 451 7181 or the Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or the crime line SMS 32211 or the nearest police station,” said Ngoepe.
