Awards for dedicated Elim hospital workers

Several dedicated employees of the Elim Hospital received certificates and trophies in recognition of their hard work during a ceremony that was recently held at the Buba Lodge.

The chief executive officer of the hospital, Mr Pfuluwani Matodzi, said that the main objective of the awards was to acknowledge employees who had put extra effort into their duties. He added that the excellence awards were held in line with the “putting people first” principle. He said they decided to start the awards initiative to boost staff morale by rewarding excellence.

"But there are great men and women who are doing well every day, and we hope that this will cascade to the rest of the staff," he said.

The guest speaker, MEC for Health Dr Phophi Ramathuba, said that the awards were given because of evidence of providing quality services to the patients. “Employees are rewarded based on what the patients perceive as good quality at the hospital. These include accessibility to care, good communication with patients, safety, comfort and prevention of clinical errors.”

Ms Nancy Miyeni, who was best operations manager, said she was honoured by the recognition. "I am very happy. It's nice to know that during all the chaos and burnout there is something good," she said.
