The well-known chairperson of the Phalaphala FM Fan Club Burial Society, Ms Mercy Munonoka, was laid to rest at Madombidzha cemetery on 3 February.

Munonoka (63) died after a short illness at the Louis Trichardt Memorial Hospital. She was described by all as a very humble, dedicated and hardworking woman.

Ms Tendani Munonoka told the media that the family had suffered a great loss with the death of their mother. “It is hard to lose an intelligent mother, but we thank God, because He does everything for a reason,” she said. “The pain we experience as a family is more than words can express. We thank the community for their support. Your presence and contributions made us strong.”

She said that her mother’s death left a big void in the family. “She was everything to us and our main source of inspiration.”

Munonoka is remembered as a caring mother who, despite being illiterate, made sure that her children and family never needed anything. “She made sure that we were properly looked after and educated. She was a woman with vision. May her soul rest in peace,” Tendani said.

Pastor Violet Liremi of Madombidzha Amazing Grace Assemble Church said that the family and church members were grieving the loss of Munonoka. “We are very saddened by her death, but we will have to accept it because God’s will has been done,” she said.
