Well-known Musina pastor passes away

The community of Musina woke up to the sad news last Monday that a well-known man of the cloth, Pastor Petrus Maila, the founder of Musina Christian Salvation Centre, had died. Maila, who was the deputy chairperson of the Musina Council of Churches, passed away after a short illness.

“It is true that our family member had sadly passed on. It also came as a surprise to us because we never expected it. We are still reeling in shock and disbelief because he was the pillar of strength in our family,” said the deceased’s younger brother, Thanyani Joe Maila.

He said although the family was in deep mourning, they comforted themselves with the fact that Pastor Maila had touched many lives during his lifetime. “His love for the community came first before anything else. He was loved by many, and he has created a very long chain of friends who loved his frank way of life. His departure is a terrible loss to the family, church and the community of Musina.”

Musina Mayor Mihloti Muhlope sent sincere condolences to the Maila family and the community of Musina. “Pastor Maila participated in various programmes of the municipality, and he supported government initiatives through thick and thin. We feel very sad when we continue to lose community builders like him because this leaves our municipality poorer. However, we thank God for giving us an opportunity of sharing life experiences with great men like Pastor Maila.”

Pastor Maila was laid to rest at Musina last week Thursday.
