R6 000 fine for Madombidzha Western Stars

Madombidzha Western Stars received a fine and forfeited league points after appearing before the Safa Vhembe MMK Administrator's League's disciplinary committee last Friday to face a charge of misconduct.

A number of other teams also appeared before the DC, facing charges that included violent behaviour, failure to honour official matches, abandonment of matches and assaults on match officials.

The DC had to decided on steps to be taken, following a Total Cup match between Stars and Mpheni Home Defenders that was played at the Tshiozwi grounds in December. The two teams played to a goalless draw and the match went for a penalty shootout. Stars were leading 4-3 when the match was stopped and they were left with one penalty to complete.  The assistant referee raised his flag to indicate that he had not seen anything after the ball had hit the crossbar, but the referee stood by his decision to indicate a retake. Players and fans of Stars said that the goal had not been scored and refused their opponents an opportunity to complete the retake. The referee, Mr Edgar Simba, and his assistant referee, Khumbelo Rakhavha, were also assaulted.

Stars were found guilty of assaulting the referee and causing the abandonment of the match. They were fined R6 000 and forfeited three points to Defenders.

Shadani Dangerous Darkies received a fine of R2 000 for the indirect abandonment of a match by failing to provide a soccer ball when they played against Tshitasini FC. They forfeited three league points to their opponents.

Tshiozwi Dynamos appeared before the DC to answer to a charge of causing an indirect abandonment of their league match against Gogobole Bucs. They were fined an amount of R2 000 and forfeited league points to their opponents.
