Excellent weekend for Peace Makers

Tshivhazwaulu Peace Makers made no peace with their neighbours, Ramukhuba Young Brothers, when they beat them 1-0 in their MMK Administrators League match at the Ramukhuba grounds on Sunday.

It was the second victory for Peace Makers, after they beat Mutandani Pull Together 1-0 at the Lwamondo Baboon grounds the previous day.

Sunday's game against Young Brothers was a thriller. The home side was the first to knock on the opposition's door. They did so in the 14th minute when Muvhuya Rasimphi shot wide after receiving a neat pass from Murendeni Mafenya. The visitors took the game to Young Brothers soon afterwards. They were unlucky in the 25th minute. Their fast forward, Fhatuwani Mathivha, forced his way through the defence of Young Brothers and lost possession just before he unleashed.

Peace Makers’ striker, Jefres Munyai, did not live up to the fans’ expectation as a goal poacher as the defenders kept a watchful eye on him. No goal was scored in the first stanza.

Realizing that veteran striker Munyai was out of form, the Peace Makers’ technical staff replaced him with Ntsieni Makhado three minutes into the second half. Peace Makers did not give up, even when they missed a fortune in the 64th minute. Their slender midfielder, Anza Mulaudzi, broke loose from the middle of the park and moved a few steps forward before unleashing a half volley. The keeper of Young Brothers, Shandukani Tshiala, made his presence felt when he stretched to the limit to execute a brilliant save.

Peace Makers took the lead in the 78th minute. Steven Masase, who came on as a substitute, headed home, following a square pass from Anza Mulaudzi. The keeper of Peace Makers, Phumudzo Mulaudzi, was reprimanded with a card for wasting time in the dying minutes of the game.
