Tricky hurdles for Leopards

After a break of two weeks, it will be business as usual for the teams affiliated to the National First Division this weekend. The teams will play two matches within a space of five days. After playing their weekend matches, the teams will again battle it out for league points next Wednesday, 19 April.

Black Leopards will host Real Kings at the Thohoyandou Stadium tomorrow (Saturday). They will travel to Richards Bay next Wednesday where they will play against Thanda Royal Zulu at the Umhlatuze Sports Complex. Although it will be an away fixture for them, Black Leopards must beat Thanda to improve their chances of gaining automatic promotion to the Absa Premiership at the end of the season.

Thanda are currently leading the pack with 47 points, eight points ahead of the second placed Leopards. Lidoda Duvha will collect full points in the two matches if the team’s head coach, Mr Jean Loscuito’s words are anything to go by. The Bulgarian mentor has vowed to win all their remaining matches.

Tomorrow, the University of Pretoria will host Royal Eagles at the Tuks Stadium in Pretoria, while FC Cape Town and Milano United will meet at the NNK Rugby Stadium in Cape Town.

Witbank Spurs will fly to Cape where they will play against Stellenbosch FC at the Athlone Stadium. Mthatha Bucks will host Santos and Jomo Cosmos will host Thanda Royal Zulu at the Tsakane Stadium on Sunday. The other Sunday fixture will be between Amazulu and Magezi at the Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban.

The only match that will be played this evening will be between Cape Town All Stars and Mbombela United in Cape Town.

The other fixtures for next Wednesday are Santos vs University of Pretoria, Witbank Spurs vs FC Cape Town, Milano United vs Mthatha Bucks, Royal Eagles vs Amazulu, Mbombela United vs Stellenbosch FC, Magezi FC vs Jomo Cosmos and Real Kings vs Cape Town All Stars.
