Yellow Birds proceed to final

Makhitha Yellow Birds proceeded to the finals of the Makhado Mayoral sports tournament after beating Ravele Highlanders 7-6 at the Vhuilafuri Stadium on Saturday. The two teams played to a goalless draw and the winner was determined by penalty shoot-out.

The match started at a fast pace, with both sides threatening to hit the target. Highlanders missed a fortune in the 10^th minute, when their striker, Sepedi Mphukhubwe, beat keeper Musiwa Lethole and shot wide with an empty net in front of him.

The match turned lukewarm towards the end of the first half. This was influenced by the fact that both sides were holding on to the ball for too long. Shonisani Mukhudi of Birds was booked for a late tackle on Talifhani Mbelengwa.

Highlanders introduced Thendo Rathumbu for Ndidzulafhi Mulaudzi in the 66^th minute.

In the last five minutes, Highlanders showed that they meant business by going forward fiercely. The demon-striker Lavhelesani Netshithuni beat the off-side trap and run straight to the stranded keeper. His attempt was off target.
