Maindis teach Chippas a lesson

In their Sasol Women’s League match at the Makhuvha Stadium on Sunday, Maindis Ladies FC taught Chippas United Ladies FC a soccer lesson by walloping them 8-0.

While the keeper of Chippas, Edzani Ramaano, was the busiest player in the game, her counterpart, Esther Seefane, was virtually on leave. Ramaano was put to the test three minutes into the game. She was forced to stretch to the limit to palm Noko Matlou’s volley away for a corner kick.

Maindis opened their account in the 14th minute when Lebohang Ramalepe blasted in a rocket from outside the box. Noko Matlou, who scored five goals in the game, was on target after a rebound nine minutes later.

Maindis were leading 3-0 at half time. Their third goal came via Molepo Rapatsa. She beat the keeper with a volley from a free kick in the 40th minute. Chippas replaced their injured defender, Olga Netshidzivhani, with Humbulani Gumbu five minutes into the last half.

Maindis did not stop fighting, even though victory was almost certain. They increased the margin through Noko Matlou. She gave the ball a final touch, following a scramble within the box. Chippas used all their substitutions, but their effort was not good enough to stop Maindis from scoring more goals. Matlou scored her third with a close-range volley.

The players for Chippas looked hopeless after Maindis’ fifth goal. Lebohang Ramalepe completed her brace after forcing her way through the Chippas’ defence. Matlou scored the seventh with a header, following a corner kick that was taken by Ntombizodwa Nhlapo. Matlou found the net again later in the game with a long-range volley.
