Morning Stars and Maindis in Vhembe derby

Many soccer fans are expected at the Guvhukuvhu grounds on Sunday afternoon. That is where the Sasol Women’s League match between the Vhembe archrivals, Shayandima Morning Stars and Maindis Ladies FC, will be staged.

The fact that Morning Stars and Maindis are closely contesting for the league title is reason enough for football lovers to expect a thriller.

Maindis are currently leading the pack with 10 points after they walloped Chippas United Ladies 8-0 at the Makhuvha Stadium last weekend. The Stars from Shayandima are lying in the third spot, just a point behind the pace setters. Stars will pin their hopes on Esther Mphaki and Munei Nemuramba for goals, while the strikers for Maindis, Noko Matlou, Xiluva Chabalala and Lebohang Ramalepe, are sharpened to kill.

The Chippas Ladies will undertake a journey to Botlokwa tomorrow. Their match against Botlokwa Ladies will be played at the Sefene High School grounds. It remains to be seen whether Chippas will rise to the occasion and make Botlokwa pay for last weekend’s defeat. Chippas must win the match to move out of the relegation zone. They are currently at the bottom of the log.

Sisters Ladies will host Real Mighty Girls at the Nwamitwa grounds and the University of Limpopo Ladies will travel to Moria, where they will meet Moria Sweepers at the Moria grounds. Seven Stars will host Kanatla Ladies at the Homu grounds in Giyani and Team Herman FC will enjoy home-ground advantage in their match against Tshandama Young Stars at the Loloka village grounds. Team Herman are still to win a league match.

The Moria Ladies will lock horns with Mphanama Young Ladies at the Moria grounds and Re Tla Dira Ladies will play against Modimole Aces at the Best Man grounds in Jane Furse.
