Teams from Masisi and the surrounding areas are gearing up for the annual MS Quality Bilisi Soccer Festival. The tournament will be staged at the Tshenzhelani grounds next weekend.

Eight teams, Tshenzhelani Diiteleni, Masisi, Rangani, Sanari, Mutele, Maramanzhi Mountain Sweepers, Tshikuyu and Dzungani will take part in this year’s tournament.

The quarter-final matches will be played on Saturday (15th) while the semi-final and final matches will be played on Sunday.

The first quarter-final match will be between the host, Tshenzhelani Diiteleni and Rangani at 09:00. The defending champions, Masisi, will entertain Sanari in the second quarter-final, which is scheduled to start at 11:00.

Tshikuyu and Mutele will lock horns soon afterwards, while the final quarter-final will be between Maramanzhi and Dzungani. The winners in the quarter-final matches will meet in the semi-final the following morning to determine the finalists.

According to the founder and organizer of the tournament, Mr Richard “Bilisi” Rambiyana, the quarter-final matches will be presided by the 10km fun run and a 100 metre field race.

The champions will receive a R3 500 cash prize, a floating trophy, soccer kit and gold medals. The runners-up will take home R2 500 and silver medals. The third and fourth placed teams will each receive consolation prizes of R1 000.

Rambiyana stressed the fact that the selling of liquor at the grounds during the tournament is prohibited, saying the event was meant to fight against social ills among youth. Hollywood Bets will sponsor the tournament.
