Who will be the Bilisi champions?

The Tshenzhelani grounds in the Niani area will be a hive of activity this weekend. That is where teams from Masisi and the surrounding areas will battle it out in the MS Quality Bilisi Soccer Festival.

Tshenzhelani Diiteleni FC, Masisi FC, Rangani FC, Sanari FC, Mutele FC, Maramanzhi Mountain Sweepers, Tshikuyu FC and Dzungani FC will take part in this year’s tournament.

The quarterfinal matches will be played tomorrow (Saturday), while the semifinal and final matches will be played on Sunday. The first quarterfinal will be between the hosts, Tshenzhelani Diiteleni, and Rangani at 09:00. The defending champions, Masisi FC, will entertain Sanari FC in the second quarterfinal match, which is scheduled to start at 11:00.

Tshikuyu and Mutele will lock horns soon afterwards while the last quarterfinal match will be between Maramanzhi and Dzungani FC. The winners in the quarterfinal matches will meet in the semifinal stage on Sunday morning to determine the finalists.

According to the founder and organizer of the tournament, Mr Richard “Bilisi” Rambiyana, the quarterfinal matches will be preceded by a 10-km fun run and a 100-meter field race.

The champions will receive R3 500, a floating trophy, soccer kit and gold medals. The runners-up will take home R2 500 and silver medals. The third- and fourth-placed teams will each receive consolation prizes of R1 000. Rambiyana stressed the fact that the selling of liquor at the grounds during the tournament was prohibited, saying the event was meant to fight against social ills amongst youth. Hollywood Bets will sponsor the tournament.
