Tshikosi Trournament in its second week

 

The opening matches of the Tshikosi Soccer Tournament were played at the Makonde Home Defenders grounds over the past weekend.

Sixteen teams from Makonde and the surrounding areas are taking part in the tournament.

The results for last weekend matches are: Nweli Stone Breakers 2, Matangari Rising Stars 1; Sambandou United Professionals 2, Lukalo Hotspurs 0; Phaphama FC 3, Tshiombo Try Again 0;  Matangari High Aims 4, Shadani Dangerous Scorpions 2; Muhuyu XI Experience 3, Rambuda Young Fighters 5; Makuya Try Again 5, Muledzhi FC 4; Mutshenzheni Gorillas 1, Thenzheni Liverpool 3 and Khubvi Dangerous Darkies 7, Makonde FC 6.

The toss for the quarterfinal matches was conducted at the grounds after the last game on Sunday. The fixtures for the quarterfinal matches, which will also be played at the same venue tomorrow, are: Makuya Try Again vs Phaphama FC, Sambandou United Professionals vs Matangari High Aims, Khubvi Dangerous Darkies vs Thenzheni Liverpool and Nweli Stone Breakers vs Rambuda Young Fighters.

According to the chairman of the organising committee, Mr Azwidiwi Mandebvu, the champions will become R4 500 richer. The runners-up will take home R2 100, while the third- and fourth-placed teams will receive R1 500 and R1000 respectively.

The semifinal and final matches will be played at the same venue on Sunday. A local businessman, Mr Tshamano Tshikosi of the Tshamano Bar Lounge, is the main sponsor of the tournament.
