Young Fighters are the Tshikosi champions

 

Rambuda Young Fighters are still in celebration mode after being crowned the champions of the Tshikosi Soccer Tournament at the Makonde Home Defenders grounds on Sunday.

Young Fighters beat Matangari High Aims 6-5 in the final. The winner was determined through penalty shoot-out as no goal was scored during the regulation time.

Young Fighters were presented with R4 500 during a ceremony at the grounds shortly after the final. The runners-up, Matangari High Aims, took home R2 100. The third-placed side, Thenzheni Liverpool, became R1 500 richer and Makuya Try Again received R 1000.

Makuya Try Again lost 0-3 to Rambuda Young Fighters in their semifinal match at the same venue earlier that day. Young Fighters’ way to the final went via Makuya Try Again, whom they crushed 3-0.

The quarterfinal matches were played at the same venue on Saturday. The results of the quarterfinal matches are: Khubvi Dangerous Darkies 0, Thenzheni Liverpool 4; Rambuda Young Fighters 6, Nweli Stone Breakers 5; Phaphama FC 1, Makuya Try Again 2 and Sambandou United Professionals 1, Matangari High Aims 3.

Sixteen teams from Makonde and the surrounding areas took part in the tournament. A local businessman, Mr Tshamano Tshikosi of the Tshamano Bar Lounge, sponsored the tournament.
