First defeat for Lidoda Duvha

It was business as usual for the teams affiliated to the National First Division last weekend. The Thohoyandou outfit, Black Leopards FC, suffered their first defeat. They were narrowly beaten 0-1 by the newly promoted Uthongathi FC at the Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban.

The goal earning the Kwazulu-Natal side the maximum points came in the 54th minute. Celimpilo Ngema hooked in the ball, following a scramble within the box.

Leopards tried every trick in the book in their search for the equalizing goal, but the home side solidified their wall until the referee blew the final whistle.

The pace setters, Cape Town All Stars, maintained their unbeaten record by playing to a 2-2 draw with Witbank Spurs at the Puma Rugby Stadium in eMalahleni. Spurs were the first to blow the trumpet. Khethokuthula Zwane finished off a rebound in the 39th minute.

The visitors from the mother city fought back via Cebo Meyiwa two minutes before the half-time whistle. Sabelo Nyembe was on target for Spurs nine minutes into the last half. All Stars found the important equalizer in the 85th minute. Ruzaid Gamildien scored from the penalty spot after a defender of Spurs handled within his own penalty box.

Royal Eagles shared the spoils with Stellenbosch FC, following their 1-1 draw at the Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg. Stellenbosch were the first to find the net. Tshepo Mabua beat the keeper with a ground cutter in the 40th minute. The hosts found the equalizer through the former Black Leopards’ sharpshooter, David Zulu, in the 75th minute.

Real Kings beat Mbombela United 1-0 at the Kanyamazane Stadium in Nelspruit. The unexpected happened at the Absa Tuks Stadium in Pretoria when the University of Pretoria beat Highlands Park 2-1. Phelelani Shozi and Larry Horaeb scored for the home side, while the Park’s solitary goal came via Mvala Mothobi late in the game.

Ubuntu Cape Town played to a goalless draw with Super Eagles at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town, while Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) beat Jomo Cosmos 1-0 at the Thohoyandou Stadium. Mpambaniso Monde scored for Tshakhuma in the 75th minute.
