One point for Madzivhandila

After beating Madridtas FC 1-0 at the Tshifudi Stadium two weeks ago, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) refused to die in front of their home supporters. They played to a 1-1 draw with Polokwane Academy in their ABC Motsepe League match at the Tshifulanani Stadium on Sunday.

The game was lukewarm in the first 20 minute as the teams took their time to study each other’s weak and strong points.

It took the two TTM players, Phumudzo Bulala and Emmanuel Neswiswi, the whole first half to acclimatize to the tempo of the game. Realising that most of the TTM players were smaller in height, the Polokwane defenders played aerial balls from behind. The only time TTM threatened to score in the first half was when Unarine Kudzingana shot wide from close range in the 37th minute.

No goal was scored in the first half, even though the visitors from Polokwane were by far too good when it came to ball possession. Tshakhuma replaced their injured striker, Unarine Kudzingana, with Akonkwo Nemakonde in the second half.  Nemakonde formed a deadly combination with Khutso Mafichi and Emmanuel Neswiswi at the forefront.

Polokwane Academy used all their substitution chances in the last half. They introduced Kgotatso Makola, Trueman Zulu and Koena Matlala for Trevor Kekana, Siyandana Mathanzima and their keeper, Mxolisi Sibei. The visitors were the first to find the net. They were awarded a corner kick in the 67th minute. Langa Mashilo beat the keeper with a fine header.

Tshakhuma did not stop fighting, even though time was fast running out for them. They tried their luck by introducing Rendani Mukomafhedzi and Rendani Dzivhani for Freddy Matiya and Phumudzo Bulala respectively. They found the equalizer through Akonkwo Nemakonde in the 78th minute. He blasted in a rocket, following a scramble within the box.
