Mwape Musonda scored Leopards’ goal.

NFD results: Joyful weekend for local soccer lovers

 

Two Vhembe-based NFD teams, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) and Black Leopards, gave their supporters the royal treatment over the past weekend. Both collected the maximum points in their league matches at the Thohoyandou Stadium.

TTM beat the University of Pretoria 2-1 on Saturday and Lidoda Duvha beat Royal Eagles 1-0 the following day. (See match reports elsewhere in the paper.)

Mahlatse Mhlabane and Aluwani “Killer” Nedzamba scored for TTM, while University of Pretoria fought back through Henrico Botes from the penalty spot. Black Leopards’ goal was scored by Mwape Musonda.

Mpho Erasmus scored a brace when Mthatha Bucks beat Mbombela United 2-0 at the Mthatha Stadium. This victory was the first for Bucks under the guidance of the team’s new head coach, Mr Duncan Lechesa.

Super Eagles shared the spoils with Stellenbosch FC. They played to a goalless draw at the Goble Park Stadium in Bethlehem. Real Kings were the first to blow the trumpet when they drew 1-1 with Uthongathi FC at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Durban. Mondi Miya scored for Kings while Uthongathi found the equalizer via Siyabonga Vilane later in the game.

In their Cape Town derby at the Parow Park Stadium, Ubuntu Cape Town played to a goalless draw with Cape Town All Stars. The other match that ended in a goalless draw was between Highlands Park and Richards Bay FC at the Makhulong Stadium in Thembisa. Jomo Cosmos and Witbank Spurs played to a 1-1 draw at the Vosloorus Stadium.
