Maweja too strong for Molemole Academy

Joe Maweja beat Molemole Academy 2-1 their Safa ABC Motsepe league match at the Louis Trichardt show grounds on Saturday.

The absence of Maweja’s playmaker, Madilonga Mukwevho, was evident from the onset as there was no one to win and distribute balls from the middle of the park to the goal poachers. Leboweng Mosopa of Academy was reprimanded with a card for dangerous play on Mpho Mavhandu six minutes into the game.

Maweja broke the deadlock in the eighth minute. Thabane Lesiba, won the ball just behind the centre line and ran towards the right corner, from where he dished out a square pass to Erasmus Baloyi. He beat the Academy keeper, Neven Mohale, with a ground cutter to give his side a 1-0 lead.

Academy equalised in the 67th minute. Peter Ratsona blasted in a rocket, following a square pass from Malisela Makgopo.

Maweja then introduced Lufuno Tshidada for Funzwani Munzani Munyai. Their winning goal came in the 79th minute. Erasmus Baloyi beat the keeper with a volley to complete his brace and scored his team's second goal. Mokobelo Mohale of Academy was booked for an infringement on Chester Murwanthi towards the end of the game.
