Leopards maul Real Kings

Chances are good for Black Leopards to take part in the promotional playoffs at the end of the season. This follows Lidoda Duvha’s 2-1 victory over Real Kings at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Durban last Sunday. Mwape Musonda and Phathusthedzo Nange scored for the Thohoyandou outfit, while the Kings’ solitary goal came via Daniel Mhlongo.

Black Leopards moved to the second spot on the log following their impressive away victory. They have 38 points in hand, 15 behind the pace setters, Highlands Park. Real Kings, who were in the second position for the last two weeks, are now lying in the third spot with 38 points accumulated from 24 matches. Leopards are above Real Kings by virtue of having a good goal difference.

After donating league points to the opponents in their last three matches, Jomo Cosmos made amends and beat Ubuntu Cape Town 3-1 at the Vosloorus Stadium. The visitors from Cape Town were the first to find the net. Duncan Adonis scored their solitary goal in the 30^th minute. Jomo Cosmos came back strongly in the last half and scored three via Sicelo Mkhize, Clifford Mulenga and Tebogo Tlolane in the 54^th, 77^th and 90^th minute respectively.

In their Cape Town derby at the Parow Park Stadium on Saturday, Cape Town All Stars beat Stellenbosch FC 2-0. Shaquil Abrahams and Tshepo Mashigo scored for the Stars. History was made at the Makhulong Stadium in Thembisa when Highlands Park brutally walloped Mbombela United 7-1. Peter Shalulile and Moeketsi Sekola scored a brace each, while the other three came via Mothobi Mvalo, Bongani Sam and Lindokuhle Mbatha.

Highlands Park need only three points in their remaining six matches to be declared the league champions. Pretoria University shared the spoils with Witbank Spurs, following their 1-1 draw at the Absa Tuks Stadium. Super Eagles beat Royal Eagles 1-0 at the Goble Park Stadium in Bethlehem.  Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) lost 0-1 to Richards Bay FC at the Thohoyandou Stadium.

TTM dropped from the third to the fifth position on the log after this defeat. Stanley Muishond scored the Kings' goal in the 69^th minute. Uthongathi FC managed to collect the maximum points against Mthatha Bucks, even though it was an away fixture for them. They beat them 2-1 at the Mthatha Stadium. Siyabonga Vilane scored a brace for Uthongathi, while the Bucks’ only goal came via Mpho Erasmus later in the game.
