Berea and Bale in goalless draw

The log leaders of Stream H of the MMK Administrators Soccer League, Berea FC, dropped two important league points when they played to a goalless draw with Bale United at the Zwigodini grounds on Sunday.

Although no goal was seen, the game provided huge entertainment from the start, with both sides creating and wasting scoring chances.

Realizing that their midfielder, Dambudzo Manenzhe, was looking weary from the onset, United replaced him with Mashudu Muleya in the 14th minute. Muleya formed a deadly combination with Mpho Rabuhale and Rocket Ramudzuli in the middle of the park.

The Berea striker, Pfariso Mukoma, could not live up the fans’ expectation as the defenders of United were all over him for the whole match. The closest he came close to scoring was when he received a pre-cooked pass from his captain, Dzivhuluwani Simba, and unleashed aimlessly from the edge of the box in the 28th minute.

Berea introduced Awelani Mphigalale and Juliet Ngubane towards the end of the first half. That did change the complexion of the game as both sides continued to press hard in search for goals. Berea used their last substitution chance by replacing Dakalo Ratshitanga with Edwin Ramphabana in the 67th minute. Ramphabana soon realized that it was not his day when he missed two clear-cut chances in the 70th and 74th minute.

Rocket Ramudzuli of United was booked for dangerous play in the 76th minute. The keeper of United, Ntuwiseni Nguluvhe, was given his marching orders for swearing at the match officials shortly after the final whistle.
