Two victories for Bush Bucks

Sheshe Bush Bucks proved their critics wrong by winning two matches on Sunday.

They beat Tshilavulu Elite 2-1 in their MTG KO competition match at the Khubvi Benjies grounds earlier in the day and Banyini Flying Swallows 4-3 at the same ground later in the afternoon.

Their game against Flying Swallows was a thriller from the onset. Bush Bucks made their intentions clear from the first whistle. Their centre forward, Mashudu Mukhari, was unfortunate in the eighth minute. He received a beautiful pass from Fhatuwani Netshithuthuni within striking distance. Mukhari chose to kick the ball aimlessly, although the Swallows’ keeper, Adivhaho Negondeni, was already beaten. The ball went far wide, much to the fans’ disappointment.

Bush Bucks were the first to open an account. Their diminutive striker, Fhatuwani Netshithuthuni, beat the keeper with a half volley in the 38th minute.

Bush Bucks enjoyed the 1-0 lead until the end of the first half.

Livhuwani Nthangeni of Bucks was warned with a card for dangerous play two minutes into the last half. Swallows found the equalizer in the 59th minute. They were awarded a free kick in the 35-meter area. Khuliso Negondeni blasted in a rocket from the free kick, beating the keeper with a half volley.

Both sides effected some changes in the last half, but that did not change the complexion of the game. The winner was determined through penalty shootout as the score was still 1-1 at the end of the regulation time. Bush Bucks converted three from the white spot through Mashudu Mukhari, Livhuwani Nthangeni and Rudzani Munyai, while Swallows converted only two of their five chances.
