Cllr Shonisani Sinyosi, the Makhado mayor, presents the trophy to the champions of the netball, Mukondeni Twinkle Stars.

Teams share R220 000

 

Prize money to the value of R220 000 was distributed between the teams that participated in the fourth Makhado Mayoral Cup competition at the Tshakhuma grounds a fortnight ago.

Mayor Shonisani Sinyosi praised the team managers and players for their dedication and commitment during their matches. She said that the event clearly indicated that her municipality wanted to serve members of the community to bring development of sport in the area.

The deputy chairperson of the Makhado Local Footbal Association, Mr James Maluleleke, said that the players had trained hard to excel in their activities. He praised the committee, who managed the sport well, and encouraged community members to keep it up to produce soccer stars.

He thanked Cllr Sinyosi for developing soccer in the rural areas and appealed to businesspeople to support development in the rural areas.

During the ceremony, the winners in different sporting codes received R7 000 in cash, kits, a floating trophy and gold medals. The Braambos volleyball team won the volleyball, Vleifontein Vortex the basketball, Mukondeni Twinkle Stars the netball and Tshino Village Brothers are the soccer champions.
