Six points for Manchester United

Not only did Ngwenani Manchester United collect six points from their two league matches over the past weekend, but they scored 10 goals as well.

They registered a historic 9-0 victory over Themba Heroes at the Ngwenani grounds on Saturday and then beat their neighbours, Mukumbani Shooting Stars, 1-0 at the same venue the following day.

Their Sunday game against Shooting Stars was a tug of war from the onset to the bitter end. Manchester were strong in the attack in the first 15 minutes. At that stage, the Stars’ keeper, Ndidzulafhi Netshilungwi, was the busiest player on the field. He was put to the test in the eighth minute when Emmanuel Mulaudzi tried his luck with a half volley from the 25-meter area. He braved the hot shot and palmed the ball away for a corner kick.

United’s midfielders continued to pump more dangerous passes to their strikers, giving the Stars’ keeper no time to breathe.  The closest Shooting Stars came to scoring in the first half was when Ndivhuwo Khorommbi went loose from the left corner before unleashing a ground cutter.

The scoreboard was still blank when the referee, Mr Tsireledzo Makwarela, blew the half-time whistle. Manchester replaced Ronewa Tshivhase with Shothodzo Dimeledzi five minutes into the last half. The home side did not press the panic button, even though time was fast running out for them. They continued to play their normal entertaining football as if they were leading.

The goal through which they earned the three vital points came in the 88th minute. Thinavhuyo Khuvhe hooked in the ball, following Emmanuel Netshilema’s square pass.
